Jurij Devetak
Jurij Devetak was born in 1997 in Trieste. After graduation, he enrolled in the International Comic Book School in Padua, on a three-year study of comic book art. Since 2018 he collaborates with many Slovenian magazines and newspapers, including the newspaper of the Slovenian minority in Italy. For two years he was the illustrator for the weekly supplement Objektiv of the Slovenian Dnevnik. His first graphic novel Nekropola was published in 2022 by Mladinska knjiga. The work is based on the well-known autobiographical novel of the same name by Boris Pahor, which ran for the Nobel Prize for Literature several times. The graphic novel Zlatirepec was awarded the best comic book for adults. In association with writer and poet Marko Kravos, in 2023 he published the comic book for children Duina di Duino under ZZT-EST. Jurij Devetak has been also working in animation over the past years as a director and animator.
