Đurđica Orepić
Đurđica Orepić was born on the island of Rab on May 30, 1964. She lives in Poreč and has been a private entrepreneur since 1988. She is the mother of three children and the grandmother of two granddaughters. She never actively participated in sports until she turned 47 when she started running as a bet. After her first marathon, she ran another ten marathons and seventeen half marathons around the world in two years. She began training for triathlon in 2014, and over the past ten years, she has reached the podium among the best athletes worldwide. In 2016, a documentary film “Ironwoman”, portraying her life, was produced by HRT. In 2021, she was the highest-ranked competitor in the world in her age category 55-59 (AWA – All World Rankings Ironman), competing against 1,650 women who successfully finished the Ironman race. In 2022, she was awarded the “Istriana” recognition by the Istria County for the best athlete. She is a multiple national champion of the HTS in long triathlon in her age group, an ambassador for races, and a motivational speaker. “Ironwomen: My Story” is her first book.
